Who we are:
A San Francisco based non-profit organization, founded in 2001. JIMENA’s mission is
to address existing gaps in the historical narrative of the Middle East and North Africa
by sharing the Mizrahi and Sephardi story of oppression and displacement. JIMENA is
dedicated to the preservation of Mizrahi and Sephardi history and culture.
Products and Services:
Oral History Program: Documenting personal testimonies and oral histories of former
Mizrahi and Sephardi refugees.
Library and Resource Center: Expanding our archives by building our library of
official documents, photo’s, books and cultural materials.
Cultural Outreach Programming: Sharing Mizrahi and Sephardi culture through
engaging activities like Mizrahi Shabbat, Henna Ceremonies, & Mimouna Celebrations
Speakers Bureau: Telling the personal stories of Mizrahi and Sephardi Jews with a
diversity of audiences throughout North America.
We need help in the following areas:
• Administrative tasks, fundraising campaigns, wordpress website development,
transcription work, media & community outreach, office organization, member &
volunteers relations, research
We are looking for interns & staff who posses:
• Initiative, strong communication skills, fast typers, highly organized, critical thinkers,
willingness to learn!
