Social Justice

Monthly Staff and Student Tzedek Days
Social justice is as central in San Francisco Hillel as it is in Judaism.  Every month we close our offices so that staff and students can go and volunteer together. Giving back to the San Francisco community is a core value and a lot of fun. To join us on our next monthly Tzedek day, please refer to our event calendar.

Alternative Winter and Spring Breaks

Apply Now for New Orleans 2012

For the past four years San Francisco Hillel has gone to the Gulf Coast to help tear down, build, and restore towns after the devastation Hurricane Katrina left behind.  The work has been rewarding and the memories will last a lifetime.  We have shared blog posts from our students below.   In addition, in 2009 we sent our first group of students to Nicaragua to help rebuild a school.  We hope to grow our social action program at Hillel and provide more opportunities for students to give back to communities, both local and international!

Please enjoy the video below made by students who participated on our latest trip to the Gulf Coast.
